Introduction to the East of Eden blog

This blog is a joint effort by a guy who lives in Kansas and his friend whom lives in Portland Oregon. He and she have always been good friends who liked to share books. She turned him on to Steinbeck some years ago, and after reading such Steinbeck titles as:

The Red Pony
The Pearl
The Grapes of Wrath
Tortilla Flats
Of Mice and Men
Cannery Row

They mutually agreed that East of Eden should be the next tome on the list. Since neither of them had read it, they decided to read it together. Because it is no fun to talk on the phone too much, this blog would be a nice casual place to communicate thoughts, pictures, questions, reviews, summaries and the like in a chapter by chapter sequence. The guy in Kansas will offset his notes with "Kansas-" and the gal in Oregon will do hers like this "Oregon-"
